Five Poker Hands that Can Cost You Money

November 30, 2013

Poker is a game of chance. Forget the odds, the tells, and the bluffs, sometimes it is all about luck. The problem with luck is there are two kinds. Have good luck at the table, and you cannot stack your chips fast enough. Have bad luck at the tables and the sting will last for days, if not weeks. Some starting hands are coin flips that can be good, but just as easily they can be bad, real bad.

Danger lurks every time you are dealt two new cards, they can mean life or death in a poker game. Some hands are worth trying to hit, some are better left for someone else to chase. I play poker with what I call a floor limit. This is where I have established before I sit down the lowest starting hands I will play in that particular game. The better the competition, the higher the floor limit for that game.

The following hands will be below the floor limit on most occasions when I am playing with good players. If the competition is weaker or unknown, they may be above my floor limit. During a game, as I recognize the players are better than I thought, I may adjust the floor limit. Later in tournaments when there are fewer players I may lower the floor, and play some of them. When it gets down to one or two players left besides myself I discard it altogether and go with my gut.

ACE- NINE

Seldom will I play ace-nine, unless I am a blind or on the button. Any other time I will normally just throw it away. This hand will cost you money quite often, by being out kicked by a king, queen or jack. If an ace comes on the flop, and someone else has an ace, your nine is likely not going to drag you the pot. Now if my ace and nine are suited this all goes out the window until I see the flop.

KING-NINE

Again, unless I am the blind or button, I throw this hand away. One ace and your beat by ace rag. If you get lucky and queen, jack, ten come on the flop, a slow played ace-king will send you to the rail. I call this the death hand and just do not play it, even if it is suited. I wait for a better hand to put my money on.

JACK-TEN

Lots of players will play these two cards from all positions, I do not. From the blind or button okay, from anywhere else normally not. Yes you can hit a straight very often, and that one player with the queen will love you for it. I would just rather gamble with some other cards myself.

QUEEN-EIGHT

I see so many players play these cards. Unless you flop a straight you are likely beat. I just save my money and throw them away almost always. Even if they are suited, I resist the temptation if at all possible.

JACK-JACK

These are the hardest to throw away, they look good sitting side by side. If I am one of the blinds and nobody else has, I raise pretty big hoping to take the pot without a flop. If I am on the button, I do the same. If anyone else raises and I think they have an ace, I just throw them away and save my money. Sometimes I throw away winning hands, but most of the time I save money in the long run.

This is the way I play these hands, you may play some or all of them different. I have found having a floor limit and sticking to it, will get me farther than if I gamble on these hands. Like I said, later in the tournament and with fewer player left in the game, I play these hands. When I do start playing them I play them aggressively.

Algodec and the Profile Wizard is legal to use for increasing your winning edge on land based casino slots. The Nevada Supreme Court as Well as Other Gambling State Courts Agree That Advantage Gambling is 100 Percent Legal.

November 30, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 11, 2004

Nevada’s highest court as well as courts in other gambling states all agree that advantage gambling is not illegal. Advantage gambling even though casinos do not like the ruling is legal to do since the players do not manipulate or alter the out come in any way, but rather use their intelligence to increase the winning edge.

A good example would be the game of bridge where winning depends on your ability to track the other players hand as best you can.

Algodec or better known as the Profile Wizard is a system similar to counting cards at Blackjack but it is specifically used for increasing one’s edge when playing land based casino slots. Algodec does this so well that The Wizard Team guaranties you’ll win at least 7 out of every 10 machines you play, with the draw down being next to nothing, or in other words, when the machine does not pay, your loss is minimal. A good worker can earn at least $300 per hour at a moderately busy casino, without all the pit bosses watching your every move as that in Blackjack.

Although the Profile Wizard System requires an investment of your effort and a small bankroll, the rewards are worth their weight in buckets of coins!

Funny Teacher Awards – Printable Award Certificates for Teachers, Faculty and Staff

November 30, 2013

Durham, NC (PRWEB) May 02, 2011

Most non-Wisconsin Governors would agree that teachers are underpaid and underappreciated. While we can’t approve pay increases, we can each do our part to help them feel the love. Just in time for National Teacher Appreciation Week, comedian Larry Weaver reveals how to plan a fun teacher appreciation event in his book "Funny Teacher Awards: Your Complete Guide to Organizing a Humorous, Entertaining, and Rewarding Teacher Recognition Ceremony."

"Giving out funny teacher awards can be part entertainment, part morale booster. It gives faculty members a chance to get to know each other better, and it keeps the mood light. My book is full of teacher appreciation ideas for schools to make the most of their recognition event," says Weaver.

Funny certificates can bring laughter long after the teacher appreciation party ends. Just don’t take your inspiration from The Dundies that Michael Scott handed out on NBC’s The Office. His selections ranged from boring to downright inappropriate.

For educational settings, Weaver recommends creating funny awards for teachers that focus on humorous situations common to the workplace. Avoid references to personal appearance or character traits that could potentially embarrass the recipient.

Anyone who’s tried to create their own funny awards knows that coming up with ideas is the toughest part. Weaver enlisted an A-list team of professional comedians and comedy writers to help, including an Emmy® nominated writer from Saturday Night Live and a features editor from the New York Post. With their ideas anyone can put on a successful teacher appreciation banquet.

A few sample funny award ideas include:

  • Dewey Decimal Award – for most organized
  • Head Cheerleader Award – for most school spirit
  • Single File Award – for keeping everyone in line
  • Carpe Diem Award – for making the most of every day

The awards reference common classroom objects, literary figures, noted scientists, fairy tales, popular culture icons, and much more. There are humorous awards for teamwork, leadership, appreciation, achievement and excellence.

While some of the awards fall under the category of "poking light fun," the vast majority are creative ways to say "job well done." They are G-rated and appropriate for all types of public, private, and Christian schools and teachers at any level — preschool, K-12, middle, junior, and high school.

Weaver’s book gives tips on how to organize a teacher recognition event to show gratitude and motivate your staff. There are 76 professionally designed and funny award certificates that can be printed, framed, and presented plus 7 awards template for creating your own teacher awards.

About Larry Weaver:

Larry Weaver is a professional comedian and creator of the Funny Teacher Awards Show. His exclusive line of funny awards are perfect for employee awards programs, office parties, teacher banquets, volunteer recognition, staff appreciation, family reunions, church functions, or any event that could use an interactive and fun presentation. McCartney calls on Indian Government to free ‘distressed’ baby elephant held in Kerela

November 29, 2013

London, July 31 (ANI): Sir Paul McCartney has joined an international battle to free a baby elephant that has been confined to a temple in Kerala, India, after being captured from a forest in the south-west part of the country.

The former Beatle reportedly wants the Indian Government to intervene, asking officials to step in and save the elephant after seeing few distressing images of his many injuries.

Sunder, the baby elephant, which is being held in a temple in Kerala, is in a desperate need of treatment for a serious eye injury after being jabbed with a metal poker by his boy handler.

"I have seen photographs of young Sunder, the elephant kept alone in a shed at Jyotiba Temple, and put in chains with spikes. I appeal to you to do what is right here, and get Sunder post haste to rehabilitation in the forest," the Daily Mail quoted McCartney, as saying.

"Years of his life have been ruined by keeping him and abusing him in this way, and enough is enough. I most respectfully call on you to use your authority to get Sunder out, placed in your protective custody, and eventually integrated into a herd in the forest," he added.

In a letter to an Indian Government Minister, the music legend warned that the ‘world is watching’.

Supporters of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) discovered the elephant’s plight, the paper said. (ANI)
