On Saturday’s Preakness at Pimlico, Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom came out tired from his second-place finish, but was in otherwise good shape, and will be under very serious consideration to be running back in the Belmont Stakes taking place on June 11, trainer Graham Motion said on Sunday, and bookmakers everywhere would very much like to see him race again.
Animal Kingdom, who is under John Velazquez, and very famous with bookmakers everywhere, rallied in the 14-horse field from the13th position to finish within one-half length of Shackleford at the Preakness’ finish, putting an end to his chances at an opportunity for a Triple Crown at the Belmont, and many avid horse racing fans have been watching all along.
“He didn’t eat up completely, but he almost did,” Motion said from the Fair Hill Training Center located in northeast Maryland. “Physically, he seems really well, a little bit drawn which I’m not surprised because I thought he had a hard race. He had a tough race, he really had to run.”
